Quick Bio

I’ve been lucky to work for NVUSD as a School Counselor for fourteen years, but have worked in education for 17!

I lived in 6 different states by the time I was 22, but I consider Amherst, Massachusetts “home”.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree (Sociology) from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), and my Master's Degree (Education) from the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

I have a passion for travel and listen to human interest podcasts on my time off. I am also very proud of my Romanian heritage-- my dad was born in Romania and the Zmed’s sacrificed a lot to come to the US in 1955 through Ellis Island for a better life (you can even find Zmed on the Ellis Island name wall!). My sister Julia is also a teacher at NVUSD and is my best friend. My other best friends are my dog Sullivan and my 3-legged cat named Squeaks.

Hello Juniors! Although this school year looks very different, one thing remains the same, your resiliency and my dedication to providing you support in your academic, social, and personal lives.

This will be my 17th year as a school counselor and my 7th year at American Canyon High School. The Class of 2023 is my third graduating class. I am honored to work on the AVID Site Team as the Site Coordinator at ACHS and every summer I work with the incoming 9th graders and with the Summer College Readiness Academy team as the Academy Director.
